Project Overview
Abastra Environmental was instructed to remove asbestos-containing debris from a listed building in Central London as part of ongoing refurbishment and preservation works.
Working within sensitive heritage environments requires careful planning, controlled removal methods and strict compliance with asbestos regulations.
The Challenge
Asbestos-containing debris was identified within floor voids throughout the property. Due to the building’s listed status, additional care was required to protect the surrounding structure while ensuring safe access for removal works.
Our Solution
To safely access and remove the contaminated materials, sections of the associated flooring were carefully lifted and removed. Our asbestos removal specialists then carried out a thorough clean of the floor voids in accordance with current HSE and environmental regulations.
Key works included:
- Controlled removal of flooring sections
- Safe extraction of asbestos-containing debris
- Detailed cleaning of floor voids
- Fibre suppression and containment measures
- Fully compliant hazardous waste disposal
Results
The contaminated debris was safely removed, and the affected floor voids were fully cleaned and prepared for the next phase of refurbishment works. The project was completed safely while preserving the integrity of the listed property.
This case study highlights Abastra’s ability to deliver asbestos removal solutions within complex and high-value London buildings.
